The 36,000 square foot CCK Pearl food production facility revitalizes the former Bornstein & Pearl Meat factory on Quincy Street in Dorchester. CCK Pearl will boast a multi-functional commercial kitchen that will foster the growth of local food businesses, create employment opportunities for residents, and facilitate improved access to healthy food in the immediate neighborhood. Building on the successes of its sister food business incubator, CropCircle Kitchen in Jamaica Plain, CCK Pearl will offer infrastructure and technical support to food businesses in various stages of growth. The shared kitchen will offer kitchen rental space and business training to food businesses just getting started. Private kitchen space from 1,300 to 4,200 square feet will be available for rent to established food businesses in a mezzanine phase of growth. The CCK Pearl commissary kitchen will serve the various food preparation needs of food trucks, restaurants, and institutions.
CCK Pearl was conceived via collaboration between CropCircle Kitchen, Inc., the Dorchester Bay Economic Development Corporation, and various partner organizations who responded to the increasing demand for small scale commercial kitchen space in Boston. Since 2009, CropCircle Kitchen has graduated over 20 businesses and created over 250 permanent jobs. Our incubator kitchen now hosts around 30 businesses, but needed room to grow. When we open our doors, CCK Pearl will significantly expand the small scale commercial kitchen space available to Boston’s motivated food business entrepreneurs and provide the infrastructure and technical resources for business success and independence.
